Washington Redskins Fantasy Fooball: Jordan Reed Injury Has Niles Paul Free Agent TE Option For Robert Griffin III

The Washington Redskins had a dud first game of the season and into Week 2, fantasy football owners are looking to replace Jordan Reed after his injury and now Niles Paul could be the top TE pick up for the team while DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Alfred Morris are the best start options against the Jacksonville Jaguars for Robert Griffin III on Sunday.

The Redskins are coming in after dealing with a disappointing loss to the Texans and that saw Robert Griffin III struggle and now that Reed likely will be out, the team may use Paul as the starting tight end. Pro Football Talk reports that Jordan Reed is dealing with a hamstring injury and he could be out for a little while, although it's not considered to be serious. The report says that Reed will be out for the game this weekend against the Jaguars and that he will be a question mark for the next game in Week 3 as well.

For any owners of Reed and anyone looking for a solid TE option, Paul is a good pickup and he likely is available in most leagues. Paul had four catches for 86 yards in the first game, but he is expected to contribute even more going forward if Reed remains out. The Redskins had Paul in 15 games last season and he had 4 catches for 51 yards and he did not contribute much, but that likely will chance moving forward. Paul has size and he could be a nice threat in the red zone for RG3. The Redskins need Griffin to play better and Reed being out hurts the offense since he is so athletic, but Paul can be a nice option coming in.

Paul had his best season in 2012 with eight catches for 152 yards and a touchdown in 16 games, but he likely will beat out those numbers this season. Last season Reed played in nine games and he had 45 catches for 499 yards and three touchdowns and the Redskins were expecting him to be a breakout player this year for the offense. Griffin had a solid game against the Texans with 267 passing yards, but he did not get it done and Washington ended up losing and now the team is looking to bounce back with the Jaguars next on the schedule.

Alfred Morris is a key player and he will have the chance to step up against the Jags. In Week 1 Morris had 14 carries for 91 yards and last season he had another great year after he had a breakout as a rookie. Morris had 1275 yards last season with seven touchdowns and the year before that he had 13 scores and 1610 yards on the ground and he has been one of the most important factors in the success of the Redskins.

Paul has played in three seasons in the NFL and has just 14 catches and while he has not had the chance to step up, he sure will get it now. The team likes to use their tight ends in various situations and with Logan Paulsen there as a blocker mainly, he should be on the field in passing downs with chances to get targeted from RG3.
