The NY Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays are playing live on the MLB schedule from Tropicana Field on Monday night as the teams open up a series and the matchup has Chris Capuano against Alex Colome as NY tries to hang around the wild card race, but things are slipping away and this is a final shot to stay in after blowing the game against the Orioles over the weekend and it starts up at 7:10 pm ET.
The Yankees come into the game after a brutal loss to the Orioles and now they are five games out of a wild card spot. The Yankees will have a tough time leaping over all of those teams and this gives them a chance to at least get it closer. The team has been terrible mostly on offense all year and Derek Jeter has been firmly planted in the two hole because of who he is. Right now it looks like his last game will come in the regular season and he will not play another playoff game.
The Rays have not been a good team and they have dealt with injuries and now the Yankees need a series win or a sweep here to have any chance at staying alive. The game on Tuesday has Michael Pineda on the mound for the Yankees and they need to pitch their lights out for any chance at making the playoffs.
