MLB Playoff Standings: AL and NL Wild Card Leaders and Division Records With Two Weeks Left

The MLB playoff standings are getting very close and now one team is in with the Angels, while the AL and NL wild card races are tight along with the divisions, as the Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Washington Nationals, St. Louis Cardinals, LA Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Kansas City Royals and Seattle Mariners all remain in contention with just two weeks left in the 2014 schedule.

The division races are starting to get decided around the league and while the Angels have only clinched a spot and not the division, they are basically locking up the AL West. The team leads the A's and the Mariners by double digits, while the Orioles can say the same in the AL East. The Tigers lead the AL Central and that's the closest of the AL divisions, with the Kansas City Royals just 1.5 games out.

The NL races are not that close with the Nationals killing the Braves in the East, while the Dodgers and Cardinals have solid leads heading into the back stretch. LA is up four games on the Giants, while the Pirates are three and a half back of the Cardinals. While those races are not over, it will take a major slump for those teams to catch up.

The Oakland Athletics are leading the American League wild card race over the Kansas City Royals, who now are two up on the Mariners. The Blue Jays are five back and the Yankees and Indians are six back, meaning those teams all need to shape up for any chance of getting into the second spot. The Mariners had their chances against the A's this weekend, but they couldn't get it done.

The NL wild card should also come down to the wire, as the Giants are leading the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee Brewers, while the Braves are 4.5 games out. All the races are close and the wild card chase is once again coming down to the final days of the season after all the excitement last year.
