As the days go by, more teams seem to join in on the Dwight Howard Sweepstakes.
The Orlando Magic have opened up talks with other teams aside from the Brooklyn Nets, who were heavily favored to land the All-Star center. Their lack of depth however, does not allow them to trade for Howard straight up. The Nets have continued searching for trade partners.
Monday evening, talks of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers partaking in a 4-team deal dominated headlines.
The Cavs pulled out dissolving the negotiations.
The Magics are speaking to the Hawks about trading Howard, but a source told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that Atlanta does not have the proper parts to make deal happen.
As far as the Nets finding a partner for a trade, the Charlotte Bobcats have entered the picture.
The Bobcats are an option since they have more cap space than both the Cavaliers.
Kris Humphries is one of the pieces the Nets would have to move in order to land Dwight Howard. If the Bobcats jump in, they could use their cap space to offer Humphries a multi-year deal
Currently, Humphries would have to agree to a sign-and-trade if he is to be moved out of Brooklyn. The same goes for Brook Lopez, Sheldon Williams, Sundiata Gaines, Damion James and Armon Johnson, who are all the movable parts in a potential deal for Howard.
Opposing general managers will keep their eyes on trading partners for the Nets. They are not happy that Steve Nash was signed by the Los Angeles Lakers and warn opposing GM's about creating teams they will not be able to defeat in the following years to come.
