The Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens are playing live on the NHL preseason schedule on Sunday and the game is at 6 pm ET from the Bell Centre as the two west rivals get ready for the 2014 season and it comes after Montreal made it to the east finals and they are coming back as one of the favorites in the conference this year.
The Canadiens were very good last season and they gave the Rangers a tough series in the east finals and now they come in after a win over the Avalanche in their last preseason game. The team will next play against the Chicago Blackhawks on the preseason schedule and that will be on the road in Chicago and has another matchup of Original Six teams on the preseason schedule. The team comes in after being one of the best defensive teams in the league and they also ranked in the top five in penalty kill percentage and they are hoping that unit will stay up to par heading into this season.
The Rangers and the Kings made it to the Stanley Cup finals last season and now the east will be looking to knock them off quick and Montreal could be a sleeper to make it. The Capitals come into the game after an overtime win against the Boston Bruins and they next will play against the Buffalo Sabres on the schedule in the preseason. Alex Ovechkin will have plenty of expectations this season and they will be expected to go into the playoffs deep.
