The 20th ESPYS kicked off with Jeremy Lin awarded the Best Breakthrough Athlete of the Year.
Lin's story this year was deserving of the prize. A Harvard graduate who went undrafted was picked up by the New York Knicks off of waivers.
Lin did not disappoint and gave the Knicks life, ultimately helping the team get in the playoffs.
Baylor's center Brittney Griner won the Best Female Athlete and Drew Brees won Best Record Breaking Performance.

Vernon Davis handed the trophy over to a young man suffering from Cystic Fibrosis.
The Comeback Athlete was Matthew Stafford and the Best Upset was awarded to the NHL Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings.

Eric LeGrand and Pat Summit were honored in the night.
LeGrand was a football player for Rutgers and is an honorary Tampa Bay Bucaneer. He suffered a paralyzing injury that left him on a wheelchair. He is currently trying to walk again.
Pat Summit received the Arthur Ashe Award and finished a speech saying "I am going to keep on keeping on. I'll promise you that."
