The Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers are playing live on the NBA preseason schedule on Wednesday night and the game is from the Wells Fargo Center in Philly as the Hornets make their pro debut with new uniforms and Lance Stephenson is their latest free agent acquisition, while the Sixers will be playing the young guns again as they continue rebuilding and it starts up past 7 pm ET.
The Hornets come into the game with a new logo and some new jerseys and new everything and they are taking on the young Sixers. The team drafted Joel Embiid and he could be out for the season and they have Michael Carter-Williams coming back after his great rookie year. The Hornets play against the Wizards next and they are coming into the season after a playoff appearance as the Bobcats. The team appears to be headed in the right direction and they feel that back to back playoff appearances are important.
The team has the chance to really start over as the Hornets and they ended the Bobcats run with a playoff appearance, although no wins since they were swept once again by Miami. The team was solid last season on defense and adding Al Jefferson helped that and now they have Lance Stephenson, making it two years in a row they signed a solid free agent. The team was ranked fourth in the league in points allowed per game and they now have the chance to build on that.
The Hornets obviously arte not a championship team, but the east is wide open at the bottom and they should be able to get into the playoffs again. The Sixers come into the game after a bad preseason loss against the Celtics and the team now plays against the Hornets before their next matchup with the Wolves. The team was horrible last season and should be horrible again and they ranked last in the league in points allowed per game. The Sixers are rebuilding hard, but they have some very solid talent on the roster.
