The New England Patriots won on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills on the road and Tom Brady played despite dealing with an ankle injury and after the matchup it was called "significant" and for fantasy football owners of the QB, Jimmy Garoppolo could be a smart pickup in case he is out for Week 7 on Thursday night against the Jets.
Brady was listed on the injury report coming into the game and while he made it through the contest without any issues, after the game his injury was called serious. According to Pro Football Talk, Tom Curran of CSN New England reported that Brady needed "a lot of therapy" to get ready for the game and that the injury was "significant" and that could come up again with it being a short week. The Patriots play Thursday night at home against the Jets and while it's very likely that Brady will start, owners may want to check out Garoppolo just in case.
Brady has played through injuries and his status likely is not in question, but since it's a short turnaround to the next game it's an issue that owners should monitor. Brady looked completely fine on Sunday with over 350 yards passing and four touchdowns against the Bills and he has another solid matchup against the Jets secondary. The Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers have picked apart the Jets secondary and with Dee Milliner injured, Brady and the Patriots could have a field day.
Many looked at the Patriots offense as a lost cause after the team got demolished by the Chiefs on Monday night football, but Brady and the Pats quickly quieted the critics with their next performance. The team took care of the Cincinnati Bengals the following week and now they have done it two games in a row and they have the chance to play big against the Jets in Week 7. New York comes into the game in a freefall after opening 0-1, as they have lost five straight games after falling to the Broncos on Sunday. Brady had his best game of the season on Sunday, putting up a 300-yard passing game for the first time this year.
Brady set highs in passing yards, completion percentage, touchdown passes and yards per attempt against the Bills and he catches the Jets as they are reeling in the secondary. Brady now has six touchdown passes and zero picks in his last two games and he has been over 65 percent completion percentage in four of the last five games. Fantasy owners should expect Brady in the lineup, but being proactive on a short week isn't a bad idea if you have the roster space.
