The ESPN College GameDay crew is in Tallahassee for the Florida State Seminoles and Notre Dame Fighting Irish game on Saturday and things start up at 9 am ET on WatchESPN online before the 8 pm ET matchup on ABC from Doak Campbell Stadium as Chris Fowler and company set things up for the number two FSU Noles and number five Irish.
The Seminoles come into the game as the number two team in the nation and they have super dude Jameis Winston as their quarterback and he will be playing despite the controversy surrounding him. The team comes in at 4-0 in the ACC and both teams in this matchup are undefeated and this could be one of the most important games of the season in college football. The Seminoles are coming into the game after a win against Syracuse and they have Louisville after that and this the toughest team of the schedule for FSU.
The team is averaging over 320 passing yards per game and they are in the top 15 in that this season in the nation and the offense has been rolling. The Seminoles are ranked 20th in the nation in scoring and they have continued to roll up on easy opponents to stay near the top of the rankings. Winston continues to have things follow him for whatever reason and he will be starting because football is all that the school has in mind. Jimbo Fisher has Winston's back and that is enough for him.
The Seminoles come into the game after winning on the road and now they return home and after that they have two of the next three on the road. The team plays against Louisville before matching up with Virginia and then the team has the Hurricanes. The Boston College Eagles and Florida Gators are the final games on the schedule and those should be very easy for the team.
Winston has 1605 yards and 11 touchdowns this season and he is not having a Heisman year after he got it last season despite being accused of sexual assault. The Seminoles are one of the picks to make it to the college football playoff and the winner of this game likely will be in it. This is the toughest game of the season for the Seminoles and if they get past it they will be likely able to finish the season undefeated to make it into the playoff.
