AP Top 25 College Football Rankings: Miss State, Florida State, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn As SEC Sets Record

The AP Top 25 College Football Rankings has Mississippi State, Florida State, Ole Miss, Alabama and Auburn as the top five teams in the nation and the SEC now has set a record with four teams among the top 5 in the Associated Press poll and they are all from the western division of the conference.

The Seminoles are the lone team in the top five not from the SEC and they luckily were able to win over Notre Dame after a call by officials nullified the potential winning touchdown. The SEC now has four teams among the top five with Mississippi State at number one, Florida State at two, Ole Miss at three, Alabama fourth and Auburn in fifth. Some of those teams still have matchups against each other and the Crimson Tide come in after totally dominating Texas A&M at home.

The rest of the AP poll has Oregon in at number six, while Notre Dame is seventh, Michigan State is eighth, Georgia ninth and TCU rounding out the top 10. The Irish fell back after losing to Florida State and now the SEC is dominating the top five, but not exactly in the way that everyone predicted at the beginning of the season. The Mississippi teams have surprised everyone and those teams are the only undefeated ones left in the SEC and they play each other along with Auburn this season.
