The New Orleans Pelicans and Washington Wizards are playing on the NBA preseason schedule for an exhibition matchup on Monday and the game is live at 7 pm ET as Anthony Davis and John Wall face off as former Kentucky players and the matchup is from Baltimore Arena in Maryland as the two young clubs play ahead of the start of the regular season.
The Wizards come into the matchup after losing to the Charlotte Hornets and now they have the Pelicans, who were once the Hornets. The Wiz play against the Knicks next and that game will be at Madison Square Garden and comes on Wednesday and is one of the last games around the league before the season starts off next week. The team is 4-2 this preseason and NO comes in at 3-2 and both are looking to make significant progress.
The Wizards have already made progress after making the playoffs and winning a series last season, but they want more this year from John Wall and their squad. The team has a solid foundation, but Bradley Beal will be out for two months with a wrist injury and that puts more pressure on Wall. The team signed Paul Pierce this offseason and now he will have more chances to get involved in the offense and he could end up being a very good addition.
The Pelicans come in after winning against the Oklahoma City Thunder and they will be playing next against the Dallas Mavericks on the preseason schedule. Davis had a very impressive offseason and he looks ready to take over as one of the new stars of the NBA. Davis played for Team USA and was far and away one of the most impressive players among the Americans and many NBA execs see him as a future MVP in this league.
The Pelicans did not have a good season last year despite making some interesting trades ahead of the year and now they are hoping players like Austin Rivers, Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans have better seasons. Davis comes in after dropping 28 points and eight rebounds against the Thunder and he will be the main focus for the team against the Wizards. Wall and Davis both went to Kentucky and they are part of this next wave of stars that is starting to blossom into All-Star players and this year will be very interesting to watch for both.
In other action, the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers are playing live on the NBA preseason schedule and the matchup is on NBATV from the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio as the two east central division rivals matchup at 7 pm ET and LeBron James will be facing off against Derrick Rose again as these two favorites battle ahead of the start of the season schedule.
