This is the latest on the Dwight Howard trade saga.
The Los Angeles Lakers are making a push for the center, who has on multiple occassions pleaded for a trade.
According to ESPN's Sports Center, the Lakers are trying to land Howard as their officials have set to meet with the Orlando Magic.
What would this do to the NBA?
First of all calm all the trade rumors that have tired fans out for the past two weeks.
The Magic had been in serious talks with the Brooklyn Nets and the Houston Rockets. Both deals went sour as neither team had what the Magic were looking for and instead, decided to stay with the pieces they had.
The Nets almost had Brook Lopez snatched away from them, a key in the Howard deal, so they signed him to a four-year $60 million contract.
The Rockets would have had to give their first round picks and future first rounders. The price was too high as Houston took three picks in the first round.
Now the Lakers are said to be making a chase. The Western Conference would be in the hands of the Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Lakers will have to give up their center Andrew Bynum and could possibly move Pau Gasol for bench parts.
Kobe Bryant has stated that he is likely to retire after he turns 35.
If Howard comes over, he can be the face of the franchise after Kobe's departure. Bynum is young and talented, but has proven immature at times.
Howard has not proven to be a professional in these past few months, but the reality is that the Lakers want to win and they hope that in few years to come, if they land Dwight, fans will once again have love for the center as he could increase their chances of winning a championship.
We will continuously update you on any Dwight Howard/Laker news that comes our way.
