Atlanta Falcons Rumors: Steven Jackson Traded as Antone Smith, Devonta Freeman Improve? Osi Umenyiora, Kroy Biermann Deals Option as Mike Smith on Hot Seat

The Atlanta Falcons are in the midst of another disappointing season sitting at 2-5 after three straight losses. The Falcons began the year on a high note with a win over the New Orleans Saints, but the wheels came off around the time they played the Minnesota Vikings as injuries have decimated the roster. Unable to get anything going on either side of the ball, forcing a few trades at the deadline could be the only way to improve.

The Falcons are still somehow in the mix for the NFC South. With everyone else in the division struggling, it seems likely that a losing record will still get into the playoffs meaning there is a sliver of hope for the Falcons. However, the only way that is going to happen is if they add depth to the depleted offensive line and get an elite pass rusher to help. While it is not confirmed that the Falcons are seeking out trades, SBNation's Falcoholic lists the most possible deals.

Steven Jackson is the first name that immediately pops up in trade talk. The veteran has an expiring contract to his name and simply has not looked the same since joining on with the Falcons. Could it be that during his tenure the Falcons have had some of the worst offensive line play in the franchise's history? That could easily be a reason, but whatever it is, the running back is not the same bruiser he was with the Rams and is injured more as well. If Jackson gets the right blocks, he is still a strong running back and could be worth a late draft pick from a contending team.

Osi Umenyiora is another player that is finding himself under fire in recent weeks as the Falcons defense fails to get any pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The veteran had a blow up on the sidelines during the loss to the Chicago Bears, likely frustrated over the lack of winning and productivity by the team in recent weeks. If presented with a move, he might not turn him down. Not to mention Atlanta already demoted him once during the preseason. If interest is there, general manager Thomas Dimitroff might push the move.

The Falcons need a lot of help. Outside of Jake Matthews, their offensive line is unrecognizable. Harry Douglas has been out with a mysterious foot injury and stopping the run continues to be an issue on defense. Will any trades happen? It is unlikely the Falcons seek anything out appearing content with the slim pickings of the free agent market. Head coach Mike Smith has said that everything is on the table in regards to making the Falcons a better team which could even mean a deal for the head coach as well.
