NFL Trade Rumors: Doug Martin, Vincent Jackson On Trading Block As Patriots, Bills, NY Giants, Ravens Options For Buccaneers?

The NFL trade rumor mill is heating up as the deadline gets closer and some names that could move include Doug Martin, Vincent Jackson or Mike Glennon, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had a tough start to the season and could put some players on the trading block heading into this week.

The Buccaneers have not played up to expectations this season and the big contract of Vincent Jackson could lead to him getting traded, while Martin has not looked good after coming back from an injury. Martin had a breakout rookie season, but he dealt with injuries last year and now this season is averaging less than three yards per carry. The deadline is on Tuesday at 4 pm ET and ESPN.com reports the Buccaneers may wait to trade Martin after the season.

Martin busted out big in his rookie season and since then he has been a disappointment and while it's not likely a deal goes down, the Buccaneers have been bad and could shake things up. ESPN.com writes that the team is getting back third round pick Charles Sims back from an injury this week and that could lead to a move. Lovie Smith and company really like Sims and he could get a chance with Martin injured and if he is out for an extended period of time, Sims and Bobby Rainey could take over.

Rainey had played well in spots and he could help push Martin out and Martin comes in this season with just 166 yards in five games. Martin is not quite at the place where he was a couple years ago and in that season he averaged over four yards per carry. This season he has just nine catches and 58 carries and that was a stark difference from his rookie season. Martin was fantastic that year with 1454 yards and 11 touchdowns and he also added 49 catches for 472 yards to give the team a dual threat.

Martin had just 456 yards last season and one touchdown before getting injured and he only played in six games and now he could be gone at some point in the future. Rainey has 287 yards this season and last year he had 566 yards and he has been averaging well over four yards per carry this season. The Buccaneers have struggled hard and they are in the bottom of the NFC South and they need to make some drastic moves to get back into things.

Vincent Jackson has also been mentioned as an option for teams and he comes in with 26 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson has a big contract and he comes in after putting up great numbers the past two years. Jackson has 15 TDs in the last two seasons and he had 78 catches last year and 72 the year before and his last two totals of yards were 1224 and 1384 yards and he could net a pick or two.
