Los Angeles Lakers News and Rumors: Antwan Jamison Signs at Minimum Salary

On Wednesday sources pointed to the Los Angeles Lakers landing forward Antawn Jamison. He will be signed for a one-year deal and be given minimum salary, according to sources.

The championship-less veteran will join forces with Kobe Bryant and another ringless vet, Steve Nash as they try to guide Los Angeles to the NBA Finals.

In 14 NBA seasons, Jamison will finally have the chance to contend. He has been a good player that has been cursed by playing for bad teams.

The Lakers are looking to bulster up their lineup as they have made an offer to the Orlando Magic for their All-Star center Dwight Howard.

Jamison gives the Lakers a solid player off the bench, something the Lakers lacked last season. He does not bring the much needed youth Los Angeles could use, but he is a veteran who plays well and can still produce.

Last season, Jamison averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds a game for the Cleveland Cavaliers and he was a starter.

In his 14-year career, Jamison has averaged 19.5 points a game.

The addition of Jamison lets Kobe and the gang sit on the bench peacefully. In many occasions last year, the Lakers' bench had subpar performances and gave up leads, forcing the starters to get out on the floor.

The Lakers were bounced from the second round of the playoffs last year to a younger more talented Oklahoma City Thunder team. If they land Howard, with Jamison now on their roster, the Lakers have a good chance of competing in the west.
