The best fantasy football free agents to pick up into Week 9 includes Robert Griffin III, Christine Michael, Charles Sims, Juwan Thompson, Martavis Bryant, Donte Moncrief, Jonas Gray, Odell Beckham, Andrew Hawkins and John Brown, as those players have solid matchups or injuries on their teams and have the chance to step up for owners this weekend.
RG3 is set to start this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings and this will be his first start since getting injured back in Week 2. The Redskins are coming in after a win over the Dallas Cowboys and they have the chance to make it two in a row. The team is desperate for Griffin to come back, even with Colt McCoy playing well and now they hope he can stay healthy. Charles Sims is an interesting pickup, as he comes in after being on IR and the Buccaneers have high hopes for him.
Sims and Bobby Rainey are strong pickups, as Doug Martin has been injured and the Buccaneers want to see what they have in Sims. Martavis Bryant was fantastic this weekend and he deserves some consideration from fantasy owners after what he did for the Steelers. Bryant was better than Markus Wheaton and he should play himself into more targets and he comes in after putting in two touchdowns on five catches for 83 yards against the Colts.
Jonas Gray has emerged as a solid RB option for the Patriots with Stevan Ridley out, as he was the leading rusher for the team last weekend over Shane Vereen against the Chicago Bears. Sims is a sleeper pick this week and while there is some mystery to him, he is worth a flier in deeper leagues and for players dealing with injuries. Stevan Ridley and CJ Spiller are done for the season and with Doug Martin injured, Bobby Rainey and Sims could get looks from the Buccaneers. Lovie Smith is excited about Sims and since he drafted the RB, he should get a real chance to contribute.
Thompson is a good option for the Broncos, as Montee Ball is out with a groin injury and Ronnie Hillman is dealing with a shoulder injury. Thompson scored two touchdowns against the Chargers and he could get more looks for the team this weekend against the Patriots. Thompson had just 24 yards in the game, but he made his touches count and he could be in line to score another touchdown this weekend. Ball will be out for a little while longer and when he comes back, Thompson still could play himself into more carries.
Lorenzo Taliaferro has been the best RB for the Ravens with the Ray Rice situation and he comes in after scoring two TDs last weekend. Justin Forsett has been solid as well, but Taliaferro looks like he is now ahead of him on the depth chart and that could be big for fantasy football owners. John Brown is a prime sleeper, as he continues to get major targets for the Cardinals and has been making some great plays. Brown finished last week with five catches for 119 yards and now in the last three games he has 11 receptions for 203 yards.
