Cristiano Ronaldo Insists He is a Romantic; Opens up About Son

Cristiano Ronaldo is considered a treat to watch on the pitch, and according to the Real Madrid forward, he is a total romantic off it.

Ronaldo has been portrayed as a womanizer by many, but the Portugal forward said that image could not be further from the truth. Ronaldo, who is dating model Irina Shayk, having previously dated English models Alice Goodwin and Gemma Atkinson, said he is a romantic at heart.

Asked about what he looks for in a woman, Ronaldo, speaking to Thai television in an interview, said: "I always look at her heart. I think that is the most valuable attribute.

"I try to be romantic, but no one believes me!"

Ronaldo also revealed his world revolved around his two-year-old son, also named Cristiano. "He has the same hair as me, strong and curly," the 27-year-old said. "I sleep and wake up with him. My son is always with me."

Meanwhile, Ronaldo claimed the Spanish League is the best in the world and said he was extremely proud to see Real Madrid beat Barcelona to the title last season. "I think the best moment so far was winning La Liga," Ronaldo said. "Because I think the Spanish league is the hardest in the world.

"It has great teams like Barcelona and to finish nine points ahead of them... that says a lot."

Ronaldo is again one of the favorites to win the prestigious Ballon d'Or award for world player of the year. Having starred for Portugal in Euro 2012, taking them to the semi-finals, Ronaldo made an ignominious exit, after failing to step up and take a penalty in the shootout loss to eventual champions Spain.

Ronaldo was slated to take the fifth spot-kick, but the shootout was already won, when Cesc Fabregas took Spain's fifth, leaving Ronaldo desperately disappointed and also open to much criticism, with several critics saying the Real Madrid forward should have taken a penalty much earlier.

"They are just decisions," Ronaldo said. "I remember when I played the (Champions League) semi-final against Bayern Munich; I went first and missed the penalty.

"So, anything can happen. Penalties are a lottery."
