NBA Rumors 2012: Brooklyn Nets Interested In Bringing Kirilenko Back to the League

The Brooklyn Nets have made a few blockbuster moves this offseason and according to new reports, it seems like they may have their eyes set on Andrei Kirilenko.

Kirilenko played all of last season in Russia with the CKSA Moscow and is reportedly open to returning to the states.

Considered one of the most versatile players during his time in the NBA, Kirilenko had a terrific season for the CSKA, averaging 14.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.9 blocks in 17 games in the Euroleague.

Several teams have been in contact with the free-agent but according to RealGM, the Brooklyn Nets are one of the frontrunners for his services. They have confirmed they have been in talks with the NBA veteran.

"He can still play," said Nets GM Billy King. "He would be a great piece to add to us, and give us more depth at the forward spot."

The Nets however can only offer the veteran's minimum, which is severely lower than the $4 million that he's earning per season in Russia. The Nets are well over the salary cap and have already used their "mini" mid-level exception to sign Bosnian power forward Mirza Teletovic.

Kirilenko's contract with CSKA, which he signed during the lockout, was a three-year deal that pays him $4 million a year, with the option to leave for the NBA each summer if he chooses to do so.

If signed, Kirilenko would more than likely backup Gerald Wallace at the small forward spot and give the Nets much needed depth off the bench.
