A month ago, the Chicago Bulls were saying that former MVP Derrick Rose, who underwent surgery to repair his torn left ACL in May, was "ahead of schedule" in his rehab.
However, today the Chicago Tribune is reporting that Rose may miss the majority of the upcoming season and is "out until likely March."
Earlier reports suggested an early January return, but March is more consistent with the tentative-12-months prognosis often given to ACL injuries.
It's no way for sure to determine how long it will actually take; Rose could bust through rehab and make it back by January or run the risk of having a setback that will keep him out the entire year.
It's still early.
There's a chance Rose can make it back by January or at least return after the All-Star break. This will give Rose two months to get in shape and find his rhythm in comparison to six weeks before the playoffs.
The longer Rose goes on without suiting up and touching the court, the better his chances to get healthier, only problem is that it may cause an immediate shut down of hopes for Rose coming back this upcoming season.
The Bulls continue to make strides to improve their depth in the event that they will have to be without Rose, but until then Rose remains optimistic about his return.
Derrick Rose posted a video last week on his Facebook page thanking fans and supporters. Says he's trying to return as soon as possible.
