MLB Trade Rumors 2012: White Sox Interested in Zack Greinke

The Detroit Tigers are not going down easily and the Chicago White Sox will try to match recent moves made by their division rival. To keep up the White Sox might enter conversations with Zack Greinke.

Monday afternoon, the Tigers picked Anibal Sanchez and utility man Omar Infante.

The belief is that general manager Kenny Williams will make a move to counter. Greinke has been rumored to be out of Milwaukee. He is in his last contract year and the Brewers could get something for him since further rumors have the Atlanta Braves landing the right hander once he hits free agency.

Williams and the White Sox are after starting pitching. According to sources, the could deal Gavin Floyd for prospects, enabling to create a package for Greinke.

The White Sox currently trail the Tigers one game in the American League Central. Greinke could have what it takes to catapult the White Sox into first, but a trade in the deadline will be necessary.

They already traded for Boston Red Sox's Kevin Youkilis and Houston Astros' Bretty Myers. Adam Dunn and Jake Peavy are having great seasons. Adding Greinke to the mix could put the White Sox in serious contention in the Central.

The White Sox make sense for Greinke since he already knows the AL Central. He came up with the Kansas City Royals, so the stadiums and some of the players are familiar to him.

The trading deadline ends on July 31st at 4 p.m.
