Olympic 2012 Soccer Results: Brazil, Japan, Uruguay, Gabon, Switzerland Lead Group Standings After Day 1

Day 1 of the Men's Olympic Soccer matchups are done with and the results are in. Uruguay leads the Group A pool, Gabon and Switzerland are tied for first place in Group B, Brazil is on top in Group C and Japan is leading Group D.

The biggest shocker from Thursday's action was Japan's shutout over Spain. The Spaniards are the heavy favorite to win the gold medal after dominating previous international competitions. Now, they sit in last place in their Group D pool.

Group B saw all around ties in Thursday's games. Mexico and Korea had no offense in their match as the score concluded in a 0-0 draw. Switzerland and Gabon scored one goal each giving them first place.

Brazil sits in first place after Day 1. They dominated Egypt at the start of their match. Brazil almost let their 3-0 lead evaporate as they lost focus and Egypt crept closer. Belarus is in second place after they defeated New Zealand 1-0.

The standings may shake up after Sunday's second day of qualifiers. Do not miss the action.
