Los Angeles Lakers Rumors 2012: Lakers And Jodie Meeks Have A Mutual Interest For The Future

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a very busy summer thus far and the front offices are still in the works of making new moves. The Lakers have already acquired Steve Nash and Antawn Jamison, and it seems they are looking to add another name to that list.

The Lakers are looking to add guard Jodie Meeks and the two sides have been in talks as of late, according to sources.

Adding Meeks to the roster would definitely make the lives of Nash and Kobe Bryant much easier.

Nash would have another shooter to feed and Bryant would have another player he could rely on in crunch-time game situations.

The Lakers have struggled from the three-point line over the past several seasons, but Meeks is a great shooter who would provide space for the offense, particularly for big men Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol, thus by stretching the defense the Lakers will be facing.

The Lakers had one of the worst benches in the league last season, but the addition of Meeks would surely strengthen the team in that aspect.

Meeks has played three seasons in the NBA and he is an average 37 percent three-point shooter from the three-point arc and 88 percent from the free-throw line.

Two seasons ago, Meeks shot almost 40 percent from the three-point arc.

Last season Meeks averaged 8.4 points per game.
