Olympics 2012 Full Medal Count: China, USA and Italy in the Lead

So far in the 2012 London Olympics, China and the USA are leading the world in medals. China has a total of 14 medals while the U.S. has won 13.

China has won 8 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze. The U.S. has 3 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze.

In third place, Italy has a total of 8; 2 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals. Japan trails them with 7; 1 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.

France has six and remains in 5th place. They own 2 gold with 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.

There are 15 different events scheduled for the London Olympics on Monday, with a number of U.S. hopefuls ready to snatch the gold and overtake China in the medal count.

The U.S. men's gymnastics team topped qualifying Saturday, and is a strong candidate for the gold in Monday's team final.

The promising team consists of Jake Dalton, Jonathan Horton, Danell Lleyva, Sam Mikulak and John Orozco, competing against strongholds of China and Japan.

Eight-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte has won the first gold medal for the U.S. in 400-meter individual medley on Saturday. Considered one of the best swimmers in the world, Lochte is ready for another in Monday's 200-meter freestyle final.
