The Chicago Bears have had a tough year in 2014 and now Brandon Marshall has suffered a lung injury and will be out for the season for fantasy football owners and this comes as head Marc Trestman has been under intense scrutiny with the team at just 5-8 and out of the NFC playoff picture.
Marshall was injured on Thursday night football in Week 14 against the Dallas Cowboys after taking a hard hit to his midsection by Barry Church. According to Pro Football Talk, Marshall will sit the final three games of the season after sustaining rib and lung injuries, as the Browns are three games under .500 this season and not in the postseason race. Marshall was taken to the hospital in an ambulance during the 41-28 loss for the Bears and now he is likely to be out for the season. Marshall suffered two fractured ribs and a lung injury according to Adam Schefter.
Marc Trestman has been dealing with heavy criticism this season with the way the defense has performed and he could be on the hot seat after this year. While it would be a surprising move, there is a chance the Bears could move on if the final three games are bad performances. According to Pro Football Talk, Trestman could be in danger of losing his job because of the disappointing play, but they also mention that CSN Chicago reporter John Mullin said that Trestman is likely safe since he is just in his second season.
GM Phil Emery came in and made some big changes to the team when he took over and letting go of Trestman would be a bit of an indictment on his moves, which is another reason why it's unlikely to happen. PFT writes that there is the chance that Trestman could stay and chairman George McCaskey could fure Emery for the moves that he has made, but added that the move is unlikely as well. Right now it appears Mel Tucker will be done no matter what after the way the defense has played, while other coaches also could be fired.
The NY Post writes that Rex Ryan would be a potential fit for the Bears if Trestman is let go, as the Jets appear likely to fire Ryan after the season. Others have written that Ryan could be an option as a defensive coordinator for the team if he is let go by the Jets, but he may not want to take a coordinator position after being a head coach.
