Washington Redskins Rumors: Robert Griffin III Trade To Oakland Raiders, NY Jets, Texans Options After RG3 Starts For Jay Gruden Week 16?

The Washington Redskins once again have some QB issues with Robert Griffin III and Colt McCoy both playing on Sunday and moving forward head coach Jay Gruden may convince the franchise to explore an RG3 trade if he doesn't feel he is the franchise guy and if that happens, teams like the NY Jets, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be interested in making a move.

The Redskins have lost another game and now the team is 3-11 on the season and now over the past two years the team has just six wins and they are heading into another top 10 pick. The Redskins started Colt McCoy on Sunday, but he couldn't finish out the game and Robert Griffin III came in and played fairly well. The biggest play of the game came on a Griffin mistake, as he fumbled in the endzone while trying to score at the end of the first half and that completely changed the outlook of the game.

The Redskins would have been up 17-7 at that point, but instead it bounced back the other way and the Giants ended up outscoring the team 17-3 the rest of the way. Griffin played well and ended up with 236 yards and a touchdown in the game for the Redskins, but it wasn't enough to win and he also looked good rushing the ball. While Griffin no longer has that extreme explosiveness he once had, he showed some flashes of it and now he may get some more starts down the stretch for Jay Gruden.

Griffin would be a major target on the trade market, as teams like the Jets, Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders all could be looking for new quarterbacks next year. The Texans and the Bears also could be interested in making a move if the Redskins stick with Gruden over Griffin.

The Redskins have been a mess this season and they have benched Robert Griffin once already and while he has a chance to start again before the year is over, the team has a major decision to make. Griffin has an option that the team will have to decide on picking up or not and that could end up costing over $15 million for the quarterback position. The Washington Post reports that there is some discord with Jay Gruden when it comes to Griffin and if he wants to move on, it could signal a showdown with ownership.

Gruden and ownership could end up at odds in this decision and the Redskins have a ton tied up in Griffin, as they gave up multiple first round picks to get him. The team is last in the NFC East once again and they have now lost six straight games heading into the final two matchups with the Eagles and Cowboys. The team has the chance to play spoiler and they now have major decisions to make, as Gruden needs to pick a quarterback and the team needs to decide if Gruden will even be staying around. Dan Snyder firing another coach is likely not the way to build in DC, but things have happened like this before in the nation's capital for this franchise and could happen again.
