The Atlanta Hawks are winners of their last three while being 12-1 in their most recent stretch of games. The Hawks are surprising everyone in the league at the moment as they are coming off wins against the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Houston Rockets. The Hawks have one of the better defensive units in the league carrying them through this tough stretch of games and that will certainly get tested on Monday as the face the NBA's best offense in the Dallas Mavericks.
The Hawks are currently holding opponents to just 97.0 points per game, but during their 12-1 run teams are putting up just 89.6 points while being limited to just 41.8 percent shooting. In their recent win over the Houston Rockets, the Hawks held the team to just 39.5 percent shooting while Kyle Korver had 22 points going 4 of 9 from 3-point range. He currently ranks second in the league with a 53.9 shooting percentage from beyond the arc. Atlanta is preparing to be tested on Monday as the Mavericks come in with the newly acquired Rajon Rondo who is only bettering the best offensive in the league.
Dallas currently leads the NBA with 109.7 points per game. Rondo will only increase those numbers. The point guard played his first game as a member of the Mavericks on Saturday following a trade from the Boston Celtics. He put up just six points, but did have nine assists and seven rebounds in the win over the Spurts. His 10.8 assists per game will be paired with Monta Ellis' 4.6 assists per game.
The last time Rondo saw the Hawks, he had just two points, but put up 19 assists and 12 rebounds. Those assists will be needed as Dallas ranks in the bottom half of the NBA with assists on 56.9 percent of made field goals. They will likely look to get points inside as Atlanta is limiting opponents to just 28.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc as the Mavericks are shooting just 39.5 percent from long range.
