Chelsea Transfer News: Alvaro Pereira Open To Move; Zenit St Petersburg Join Hulk Race

Chelsea have been alerted after the agent of FC Porto defender Alvaro Pereira refused to rule out a move during the summer transfer window.

Pereira was on the brink of making a move to Stamford Bridge last season, but the deal collapsed after Porto refused to budge from their €30 million (£23.7 million, $37 million) asking price.

With Ashley Cole still being linked with a move away from Chelsea - Moneybags Paris St Germain are reportedly interested in bringing in the England defender to France -- Roberto Di Matteo might be tempted to put in another bid for the highly-rated Uruguayan international, who is capable of playing at left-back as well as further forward.

However, although Cole only has one year remaining on his contract, it still remains highly unlikely the 31-year-old will leave the club, but Chelsea might be tempted to bring in the 26-year-old Porto defender to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, with Ryan Bertrand, while very talented, still unproven in the long run. The Blues, however, see the right-back position as an area they need to strengthen more than the left-back, with Marseille defender Cesar Azpilicueta linked with a move.

Pereira, who has also been linked with PSG and Napoli, has repeatedly said in the past he would be open to a move to a bigger league, and his agent has now confirmed the player might still leave the Portuguese champions.

"I spoke with Alvaro last week and he is calm," Pereira's agent, Flavio Perchmen, told Antena 1. "We are waiting to find out if there is any offer.

"We think everything will go well and that he can leave the club, but right now we do not have any concrete offer.

"Right now, he is 100 per cent at Porto. Last year, there was a 98% chance of him leaving, but the remaining two per cent prevailed.

"Therefore, if someone makes an offer, we will look at what is best for the player and the club."

Zenit St Petersburg have reportedly entered the running for another Porto player and Chelsea target Hulk. Reports suggest the Russian side would be ready to use Bruno Alves as a makeweight in any potential move.

Hulk, who is currently with the Brazil squad at the London Olympics, recently hinted at a move to Chelsea, but admitted nothing had been confirmed yet. And now his agent Constantine Theodore has said they will only listen to offers after the conclusion of the Summer Games.

"We are not talking to any club at this time," he told Globoesporte. "Hulk is totally focused on the games of the Brazilian team in the Olympics in London.

"There is no rush. The European window ends on August 31. And we must remember he also has a contract with Porto."

Meanwhile, Chelsea captain John Terry has denied the FA charge of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand. Terry was found not guilty by a Westminster Magistrates Court of a racially aggravated public order offense last month, but the FA have gone ahead with their charges following their own investigation. "John Terry has today denied an FA charge of using abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour, which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race, towards Queens Park Rangers' Anton Ferdinand," a statement by the FA said.

"The Chelsea player has requested a personal hearing, the date of which will be set in due course. During this period John Terry remains available to play for England."
