Olympics 2012 Men's Basketball Results: USA Defeats Argentina in Last Game of First Round

The United States remains perfect in the 2012 Olympics after defeating Argentina 126-97 on Monday. Led by Kevin Durant who scored 28 points, the U.S. moved on to the quarterfinals with a perfect record.

The U.S. did not come out and dominate this game from the start like they usually do. At the half, they only led by one point after scoring 34 and 26 points in the first two quarters. Argentina kept up with Team USA in the first quarter scoring 32 and then outscoring them by one point in the second as they finished with 27.

The score was 60-59 in favor of the U.S.

Some would blame the officiating for the game's close score, but Durant and the rest of the gang made sure this game would not be determined by a blown call.

USA scored 42 points in the third quarter compared to Argentina's 17. At the end of the third it was no longer competitive as the U.S. led 102-76.

USA took the foot off the pedal in the fourth, but outscored Argentina 24-21.

LeBron James chipped in with 18 points, Andre Iguodala had 13 and missed out on the double-double as he grabbed 9 rebounds. Chris Paul had 17 points.

Manu Ginobili was Argentina's top scorer with 16 points, followed by Carlos Delfino who had 13.

The U.S. along with Argentina have entered into the quarterfinals which take off on Wednesday. Come back to sportsworldreport.com where we will announce the brackets with the matchups for the quarterfinals.
