Usain Bolt started his 200 meter defense with a comfortable win in the heats at the London Olympics.
Fresh from his staggering 100 meter Olympic record victory, Bolt cruised home in Heat 1 in 20.39 seconds. Yohan Blake, again expected to be Bolt's biggest competition, won his Heat 4 in 20.38 seconds, while Christophe Lemaitre of France took Heat 2 in 20.34 seconds.
Maurice Mitchell of the U.S. qualified with a time of 20.54 seconds, while Wallace Spearmon finished second in his Heat 6 in 20.47 seconds. The top three from each heat qualify by right, with the next best three times making it into the semis.
Bolt and co will compete in the semi-finals on Wednesday, while the final is scheduled for Thursday.
