The NY Rangers and Boston Bruins are playing live on the NHL schedule on Thursday night and the matchup from TD Garden starts up past 7 pm ET and has New York coming in hot but after a loss against the Islanders and both teams are tied in the overall standings as Rick Nash, Zdeno Chara and Henrik take the ice.
The Rangers have been playing some fantastic hockey and while they lost 3-0 in a shutout at home against the Islanders, the team just came off a dominant stretch. The team was undefeated on a west coast trip and had won 13 of 14 games and now they will try and get back on track. The team had won five straight games and was playing as well as anyone while winning three in California in a sweep, but the hoe matchup with the Islanders was tough and now they will try and rebound.
The Rangers are now fourth in the division standings with a healthy lead over Philly by more than 10 points and they are right in the mix with Washington. The Islanders have been the best team in the east, so losing to them isn't so bad, but the team would like to get things back on track and they come in at 8-2 in the last 10 games. The Rangers have been getting some fantastic play from Rick Nash and he is looking like the super star player they always thought he could be.
Nash is one of the leaders in goals scored this season and the team is ranked fourth in the league in goals per game. The team is sixth in goals against and ninth in power play percentage and they are also ranked 11th in penalty kill percentage. The team plays on the road against the Blue Jackets next and Nash comes in leading the team in scoring this season and points, with 26 goals and 41 points overall. the Bruins come in with the same amount of points and they have been a struggling offensive team this season.
The Bruins come in after a win against the Lightning and they will next play against the Blue Jackets on the schedule. Lundqvist will be out for this game for the Rangers and the team will have Cam Talbot in net after the Rangers lost to the Islanders in the last matchup for the team on Tuesday.
