The Atlanta Hawks wrapped up their weekend with road wins over the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls to strengthen their lead in the Eastern Conference while continuing their now 12-game win stream. It also extended their road-game win streak to eight games. Atlanta has not been sitting this comfortable in the East since 1993 and now the team will once again put things to the test as they head home to face the Detroit Pistons on Monday.
The Atlanta Hawks are two games away from extending a franchise-best 14-game win streak. Getting back-to-back wins against two of the East's top teams certainly helped things, but now they cannot afford to overlook the Detroit Pistons who come with inconsistencies across the board.
Kyle Korver certainly enjoyed playing the Chicago Bulls on Saturday in the 107-99 win. Facing his former team, Korver put up 24 points while going 7-of-9 from the 3-point line. Over the past 10 games, Korver is dominating from beyond the arc going 39 for 66 at 59.1 percent. Overall, the Hawks have made at least 10 3s in eight straight games to be one of the better long range teams in the league while shooting 46.9 percent from beyond the arc.
However, it is not just Korver with the shooting success. Jeff Teague is putting up 19.8 points and 8.5 assists in his past 11 games while having an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.27. Meanwhile Al Horford is fresh off his first career triple-double and has put up 21.7 points on 84.4 percent shooting over his past three games. Those three are pushing the Hawks at a good pace right now as they have been getting wins at an average of 11.8 points while opponents are putting up just 93.9 points on 42.6 percent shooting.
The team now opens a seven-game home streak after a long road trip. Detroit kicks things off with their 16-25 record, but they have gone 4-1 recently as past of an 11-2 stretch since trading away Josh Smith. They sit just one game out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Kyle Singler and Brandon Jennings continue to lead the way with impressive outside shooting and strong defense.
