Chelsea Transfer News: Blues Back In for Edinson Cavani After Dropping Hulk Interest; Pereira Still on Chelsea's Radar

Chelsea never made a serious bid for Porto's Brazilian striker Hulk, with the Blues again being linked with a move for Edinson Cavani. Roberto Di Matteo, however, is reportedly closing in on Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta, while links with Alvaro Pereira continue to swirl.

Zenit St Petersburg are the latest to be linked with Hulk, with the rich Russian club reportedly tendering a £40 million ($62.6 million) bid for the 25-year-old, who is with the Brazilian squad at the London Olympics.

"I have not heard about a bid from Zenit, but at £40 million I cannot see Porto selling," a Chelsea source told ESPN.

"I know Chelsea have been linked with Hulk all summer, in fact all year. But Chelsea have never negotiated. Chelsea know the price and are not prepared to even negotiate around those sorts of figures."

Porto are reportedly demanding a massive £60 million ($94 million) for the talented Brazilian, scaring off any potential suitors. If Hulk wants to make his dream move to the English Premier League and Chelsea, the striker will have to convince his club to considerably lower their price, or play at least another season with the Portuguese champions.

Another forward that has constantly been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but like Hulk carries a considerably heavy price tag, Cavani, is reportedly back on the European champions' radar. According to Italian news outlet Sports Mediaset, Napoli are now seriously considering the possibility of selling their 25-year-old top scorer and has sent a high-profile agent to try and broker a deal with the Blues.

It is understood, Chelsea are only ready to pay around €30-35 million (£23-27 million, $37-43 million) for the Uruguayan international, who was extremely prolific for Napoli last season, with the Italian club expecting a lot more.

Chelsea are still on the lookout for another high-profile striker to decrease the burden on Fernando Torres, and also capable of filling the void left by Didier Drogba. The London club have also been linked with moves for Atletico Madrid's Radamel Falcao, Bayer Leverkusen's Andre Schurrle and Robert Lewandowski of Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Di Matteo is close to completing the signings of Moses and Azpilicueta, with the Blues ready to offer Gael Kakuta to Marseille to sweeten the deal for the Spanish international. Chelsea are considering increasing their bid for Moses to meet Wigan's demands, which are believed to be around £8.5 million ($13.3 million).

Di Matteo hopes both players will be part of the Blues squad by the club's Community Shield fixture against Manchester City on Sunday.

Another player on his way to Chelsea could be Alvaro Pereira with reports linking the left wing-back to the Blues ceasing to stop. Pereira's representative Alejandro Savich admitted "important" talks were imminent with the club about his client's future.

"We are due to hold an important meeting with Porto, but I do not want to speculate on what the outcome will be," Savich told Maisfutebol.

An initial loan move, with view to a permanent deal next summer, has been reportedly mooted between the two clubs.
