The bronze medal match of the men's beach volleyball will feature the first appearance in the final four of the Netherlands and Latvia in the Olympic Games.
This will be a rematch from pool play when the Latvians won.
Latvians teammates Martins Plavins and Janis Smedins reached the bronze medal match after they defeated Americans Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal.
Plavins and Smedins are competing in their 28th international event and have three final four appearances with one silver and one fourth place finish.
For Latvia, this is the second Olympic Games for Plavins, who played with Aleksandrs Samoilovs in 2008, and the first for Smedins.
In their international series history, the Netherlands leads 4-1 against Latvia.
Reinder Nummerdor and Rich Schuil were fifth in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and have been playing with one-another since 2006.
This is their 69th international event as teammates and they have earned 21 final four appearances with nine gold medals, five silver, two bronze and four fourth place finishes.
"European beach volleyball is getting bigger and bigger," Nummerdor said.
Nummerdor and Schil beat Italy's Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo 1-18 to secure the last semifinal berth.
