US Open 2012 Women's Rankings: Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Radwanska and Azarenka Tops In Seeding

Following the Men's seeding announcement earlier this week, the U.S. Open 2012 has its Top 10 female players already seeded for the tournament.

Before we get into the seeding, a point has to be made that Serena Williams is having a memorable season. She won at Wimbledon, defeating Agnieszka Radwanska and then took the Olympic gold medal in London after defeating Maria Sharapova. The crazy part about the whole thing is that she looks like she has barely broken a sweat getting through the tournaments.

The No. 1 ranked female player at the U.S. Open will be Victoria Azarenka of Belarus. She won the Australian Open to take her first ever Grand Slam title. She has remained at No. 1 since then.

No. 2 will go to Radwanska of Poland, while Sharapova will possess the third highest ranking in the world. She won the 2012 French Open.

Serena Williams is ranked No. 4, followed by Samantha Stosur at No. 5, who is defending her U.S. Open title.

No. 6 goes to the Czech, Petra Kvitova. No. 7 is owned by Angelique Kerber, who hails from Germany. Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark owns No. 8. Sara Errani from Italy is No. 9 and last but not least, Marion Bartoli, the Frenchwoman takes the 10th spot.

It has to be rightfully noted that Kim Clijsters will be retiring after this match, as she announced. She will forever be known as the first non-ranked and wild card player to win the U.S. Open in the Women's singles.
