Olympics 2012 Men's Basketball Results: Spain Advances to Finals After Beating Russia

Sapin defeated Russia with a 67-59 win advancing to the Men's Basketball Final as they will attemtp to capture the gold medal. 

Pau Gasol led the team with 16 points and 12 rebounds, but it was Jose Calderon who kept the team in the game with 14 points. 

Spain took the lead in the fourth quarter after getting momentum from a Calderon three as time ticked away on the third.

It was a back and forth game in the fourth as Russia and Spain battled for the lead.

Russia took a three point lead and the Spaniards cut it by one on a layup following a blocked shot by Kirilenko.

Calderon gave his team a two-point lead following the two-point basket. With the score 55-50, Calderon hit another three to complete the 9-0 run for Spain.

They took a dominant 10 point lead after Felipe Reyes shot a beautiful rainbow from the baseline

The game was not done yet as Kirilenko knocked a three to make it 60-54 after making a free throw in Russia's previous possession which stopped the bleeding.

Spain answered back as Marc Gasol went down the other end completing three the hard way to get the lead back up to nine. 

Russia created havoc with their full court press, but they could not capitalize on turnovers. With 2:30 left in the game Gasol put the game away with a dunk giving Spain a 64-54 lead.

It was sloppy, but a victory nonetheless for a Spanish team that trailed by 11 at the half. They outscored Russia 47-28 in the second half to advance to the finals. 

They await for the U.S. or Argentina as their challenger.
