The Seattle Seahawks may look at making some moves in free agency this offseason after losing the Super Bowl, as Julius Thomas, Jordan Cameron and Jermaine Gresham are all free agents at tight ends on the market and this comes as the team has contract to work out with Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and Bobby Wagner on the horizon.
Lynch is currently working on a deal to return, while reports have Wilson set to be one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league when he signs his deal. The Seahawks don't have a great cap situation with those contracts still coming and the deals for Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas from last year, but they are better off than most Super Bowl teams. The team is projected to have about $23 million in cap space according to Over the Cap and even with the Lynch and Wilson deals coming, it means they can play a bit in free agency.
According to CBS Sports, Suh is hoping to sign with the Seattle Seahawks as a free agent, as he is from the Pacific northwest and wants to compete for a championship. If Suh wants to sign in Seattle, he likely will have to take a pay cut, as he is looking to make massive money on the market this year. Suh grew up in Portland and wouldn't mind a return to the area, but with the Seahawks having about $20 million in cap space, they need to convince to sign for less than he wants and if he really wants to sign there, he will have to do that.
Luke Wilson came on at the end of the year, but the TE position has been a tough one for the team for years, stemming back to when the team picked Jerramy Stevens. Now the team may look at Cameron or Gresham on the market, while Pro Football Talk adds that Thomas could be too expensive for a team like Seattle. Cameron could be the perfect fit, as he is coming off of a down season while dealing with injuries and PFT reports that he is "not interested" in signing back with Cleveland after the way things ended up there.
Julius Thomas is likely leaving the Broncos and the Seahawks could be a solid option for him to sign, as he made 24 touchdown catches over the last two seasons. Cameron is also a target and he comes in after a disappointing year and could be a cheaper option on the market. Lynch is the first priority for the Seahawks, as they will either sign him to a new deal or release him for the 2015 season.
Earlier in the season reports from ESPN.com had the team leaning towards cutting Lynch loose, but now it looks like the two sides are working on a deal. Pro Football Talk reports that Lynch will be getting a raise in 2015 if he comes back to the Seahawks and that the team wants to make him an offer that would keep him on the Seahawks for "years to come". Lynch has been the most valuable player for the Seahawks over the past few years, rushing for over 1200 yards in each of the past four seasons and scoring at least 11 TDs each year in that span.
