Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao Fight: Boxers Agree To Historic Match In Las Vegas, HBO and Showtime Partner For PPV

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are finally set to fight, as the two boxers will battle in a historic match in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand in May and it comes after months of intense negotiations and years of failed agreements and it will be a PPV partnership for HBO and Showtime that should set records.

Mayweather and Pacquiao have been circling each other for years and now the two boxers will finally face off. According to ESPN.com, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have agreed to a fight on May 2 in Las Vegas and things were officially announced by Mayweather, which was stipulated in the contract agreement. Mayweather announced the news on the social media site Shots and said that the meeting between himself and Pacquiao at a Miami Heat game in January helped moved things along.

Both fighters have plenty on the line and this could end up being the most anticipated boxing match in recent history. The two fighters are considered the best in the world and fans have been begging for a battle between the two for years. ESPN reports that the fight will have a 60-40 split for Mayweather and that the fight is estimated to bring in over $400 million. The pay per view likely will set a record over the battle between Oscar De La Hoya and Mayweather from 2007, which went for over $150 million.

HBO and Showtime are partnering on the fight since the two boxers have separate deals and the pay-per-view numbers likely will be off the charts. Both Mayweather and Pacquiao released statements about the fight and Mayweather was allowed to announce the bout, but only after informing Top Rank when he was going to do it. Top Rank is the promoter for Pacquiao. ESPN.com reports that this is only the second time that HBO and Showtime have made a deal like this.
