English Premier League Results: Manchester City Wins 3-2, Defeating Southampton

It was a scary match for Manchester City, but they got the win against a tough Southampton club. They won on two late goals and walked off the field with a 3-2 victory for their first of the 2012-2013 campaign.

With the score tied at 2-2, Samir Nasri provided the knockout punch at the 79th minute of the match. He received an assist from Gael Clichy and kicked the ball into the top left corner of the goal.

Manchester City controlled the ball for most of the match, but had to come from behind after trailing 2-1 in the middle of the second half. Southampton took advantage of Man City errors.

Southampton scored their first goal to tie the match in the 58th minute. After having the ball in the penalty area, they tipped the ball around and Rickie Lambert made sure to capitalize as he put the ball through the goal past Man City goalkeeper Joel Hart.

Less than ten minutes after their first score, they took the 2-1 lead.

Following a corner kick by Nasri, Southampton cleared the ball and went on the attack. Steven Davis gave his team the 2-1 lead over Man City with a goal at the 67th minute.

Manchester City did not panic and got back into the match. Right before Nasri's game winning goal, Yaya Toure fed Edin Dzeko with a no look pass while inside the penalty area. Dzeko finished off the play, putting the ball in the upper left side of the goal and tied the match at 2-2.

Southampton played wonderful defense throughout the match, but it was not enough at the end as they were overpowered in the closing minutes of the match.
