Kevin Mirallas sealed his move to Everton from Greek club Olympiakos for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £6 million ($9.4 million), with manager David Moyes expecting the striker to provide them with much-needed goals.
Mirallas, who was reportedly on Arsenal's radar, completed a medical on Saturday and signed a four-year contact.
"We're really pleased to get Kevin," Moyes told the club's official website. "He'll hopefully add a bit of quality to the squad, give us some more options and we need him. We've lost one of two players so we're delighted to get Kevin in.
"He's scored a lot of goals in the last couple of years in Greece so I'm hoping that he brings some goals to the team. With his versatility -- being able to play from the right, through the middle or from the left -- it will give us options to change in the games and bring him on in different positions."
Mirallas was delighted to seal the move. "I'll give my best for the fans and the team and they'll be able to see what I can bring to the team," the 24-year-old said.
"I'm a forward player and I can play behind the striker, on the left and on the right but I'm just looking forward to playing whatever the position.
"I'm very impatient to play. I want to know what the Premier League is all about."
The Belgian international scored 34 goals in 54 league games for Olympiakos, but will have to wait till next weekend to get his first taste of the English Premier League. Mirallas revealed new team-mate Marouane Fellaini had encouraged him to make his move to Goodison Park.
"Marouane told me it's a great club, a family club and that I should come and join because I will enjoy the Premier League and enjoy Everton."
Fellaini, himself admitted he had given the thumbs-up to the move, when asked about his international team-mate by Moyes. "Last week or two weeks ago he (Moyes)asked me what I thought about him," Fellaini said. "I told him he was a good player, a good dribbler, he's quick, a good finisher and I said I hoped he could come here because he could help the team.
"He can keep the ball, take people on, cross the ball, score goals, so I think he will be good for the team.
"He's a quick player, with good technique, good dribbling ability, last year he was top scorer (for Olympiakos) and I think he is a player who will excite the fans. I hope so."
Meanwhile, Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill is still on the lookout for a new striker, after holding Arsenal to a 0-0 draw in their opening game of the season.
"We would have liked to have had some players in before the Arsenal game, but that did not happen," he said.
"We have a lot of spirit about us, but lack quality in some positions. We need some better attacking options.
"It has been slow, perhaps people's attentions have been elsewhere with a fantastic Olympic Games, but maybe now there might be that bit of movement.
"Maybe some of us were waiting for bigger teams to move, then we pick up, but I should not really concern myself with what other clubs are trying to do, because I am trying to do the best for us."
Sunderland have seen two considerable bids for striker Steven Fletcher rejected by Wolverhampton Wanderers, but O'Neill hopes he can finally come to an agreement soon.
"Fletcher has been one of the players mentioned, but we need to strengthen because we need some help," O'Neill added.
"There were little moments where Louis Saha showed his class, but expecting a 33-year-old to come in and play X number of games for us is out of the question.
"I am hopeful we are able to do something."
