Tennis US Open 2012: List of Withdrawals and Additions to the Tournament

The U.S. Open 2012 has yet to go underway and players are already out of the competition. Rafael Nadal, as we found out last week, was no longer going to take part in the tournament. His knee injury has yet to recover, disabling the player from being a viable challenger.

With the departure of a player like Nadal, doors open up for new winners to surface. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are favorites, but guys like Andy Murray, a player who is considered unlucky for playing in an era of dominant tennis players, have a chance to with a grand slam title.

Nadal and other fellow players' departures from the tournament will also give other players an opportunity to compete in the U.S. Open.

Here is the list of men and women who are out and of those who will get a chance to compete.

The U.S. Open will take place in Queens, NY from August 27-September 9.
