Patriots Free Agency Rumors: Percy Harvin Signed Over Andre Johnson After Brandon Gibson Deal? Danny Amendola Release Likely as Hakeem Nicks, CJ Spiller Options

The New England Patriots might have let Darrelle Revis get away, but the team is still making moves in free agency as their focus appears to be shifting towards offense instead of defense. Last season, the Patriots made upgrades by re-signing Julian Edelman and acquiring Brandon LaFell. Now, they are aiming to get pieces around those two players in order to help Tom Brady out in 2015.

The Patriots are in the market for wide receivers and according to the National Football Post, they have agreed to a one-year contract for former Miami Dolphins receiver, Brandon Gibson. The receiver was not exactly a star in South Beach. He has just 295 yards and one touchdown in 14 games last year after being two years removed from a torn ACL. The contract is extremely low risk for the Patriots. It might equal up to one million dollars after incentives. If anything, the Patriots have signed a diamond in the rough who could excel under Brady's arm.

The addition of Gibson might not be the only move the Patriots make at wide receiver. With the release of Danny Amendola looking more and more possible each day, the Patriots are eyeing a few big names on the market. According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, there is a very good chance New England signs Percy Harvin in the coming day. After getting released from the New York Jets, the Patriots were immediately pinpointed as a landing spot after Bill Belichick admitted he has been a fan of the wide receiver's since college.

Most expect Harvin to land a short-term contract as a prove-it deal. The Patriots could easily win him over with a one-year deal with an option to see just how well he does in the system. After losing Shane Vereen, the Patriots would love to have Harvin's special team abilities while he could be a big upgrade over someone like Amendola.

The Patriots were interested in Brian Hartline. According to ESPN, Hartline turned down an offer from New England in order to return home to Ohio to play for the Cleveland Browns. If Harvin is too expensive of an option, the Patriots could try and move in on Andre Johnson. The veteran was reportedly close to a deal with the Indianapolis Colts, but so far nothing has been agreed upon. Johnson wants to play somewhere with an experienced quarterback and New England fits the description.
