FIFA Women's World Cup 2012 Results: Mexico Scores 4 Goals to Defeats New Zealand

The 2012 FIFA Women's World Cup saw its last matches of the first round qualifiers and Mexico went out with a bang after defeating New Zealand 4-0 and moves on in the tournament.

The game was all about defense in the first half of the game as no teams could score. Mexico took full advantage in the second half of the match scoring all of their goals in the second period. 

Sofia Huerta provided the first score of the match at minute 47, just two minutes into the second half. 

The offenses were once again stagnant until minute 74 when Natalia Gomez Junco scored. Nine minutes later Yamile Franco scored and Olivia Jimenez made the last goal on a penalty kick at minute 87. 

With the loss, New Zealand is bounced from contention. Mexico finished in second place in Group A. Mexico advances to the second stage of the Japan World Cup with the win. 

They face a red hot Nigerian team that has played well during the tournament. 

That match will take place on August 30.
