The 2011 U.S. Open champion and No. 7 ranked Samantha Stosur, will hit the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium as she is set to face Petra Martic in the first match of the day of the 2012 U.S. Open. 

Stosur has had disappointing performances in her last couple of Grand Slam tournaments immediately following her first victory at a Tennis Major. 

The 28-year-old was then bounced in the first round at this year's Australian Open, made it to the semifinals at the French Open, but was then again bounced early from contention at Wimbledon.

Stosur was very disappointed with those performances, but continues to work hard and stay as fit as possible.

The Australian, will face Croatian Martic. Martic has four years playing professional tennis and is only 21 years of age. Her greatest success at a Grand Slam came in this year's French open where she was almost a quarterfinalist. Martic made it all the way to the fourth round.  

Both of these players will be in charge of providing the first action of the U.S. Open from Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, N.Y.
