Goalkeepers seem to be the order of the day for English Premier League clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers reportedly closing in on new shot-stoppers.
Spurs are close to agreeing a deal with Hugo Lloris, while just personal terms remain to be agreed on between QPR and Inter Milan's Julio Cesar.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has plenty of money to spend after the £30 million ($47.3 million) sale of Luka Modric to Real Madrid. With first-choice goalkeeper Brad Friedel in his 40s, and back-up 'keepers Carlo Cudicini and Hurelho Gomes in their 30s, the Portuguese is keen to bring in a younger goalkeeper to his squad.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas revealed he had held talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy about signing Lloris, and admitted the final decision would be made by the player.
"I told Hugo on Monday the content of these exchanges (with Levy)," Aulas told L'Equipe.
"It is he who holds the key, the decision belongs to him. I think he will be requested by Tottenham.
"It is up to him to see if he can find the conditions for the transfer to progress, in terms of what he expects, in fiscal and sporting terms."
Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, QPR are confident of completing the signing of Cesar, to replace Robert Green, who has had a tough time ever since signing from West Ham.
Cesar, who has won multiple titles with Inter including the Champions League, has fallen down the pecking order at the San Siro after the signing of Samir Handanovic, with the Italian club ready to offload the Brazilian international, who still has two years left on his contract.
According to the report, Cesar arrived in London Monday to discuss personal terms, with an official announcement expected to be made by Wednesday.
QPR manager Mark Hughes is also still hopeful of completing the signing of Spurs defender Michael Dawson, after the move initially stalled on personal terms. A £9 million ($14.1 million) fee has already been agreed between the two clubs, but agreement on wages with the player had caused the move to be put on hold.
Dawson is considered surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane with Villas-Boas preferring Jan Vertonghen, William Gallas, Younes Kaboul and Steven Caulker.
