New York Knicks Rumors 2012: Jason Kidd the Reason Why Team Will Succeed?

The New York Knicks may not have Jeremy Lin in their roster, but they have Jason Kidd, the assist-first point guard that has 18 years in the league. As the Knicks look to build on their previous two years of playoff appearances, Kidd believes he knows how to make players like Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire thrive.

Kidd put it in simple terms in an interview with NBA.com, "Melo is one of the top five players in the world. For me, it's to get him touches that put the ball in the basket, so he doesn't have to work so hard. He's a guy that understands how to play and also understands how to win."

As far as Stoudemire, Kidd has studied the forward's scoring tendencies and remembers how well he did in his early goings alongside Steve Nash in Phoenix.

"With Amare, I hope I can be like a Nash to be able to get him the ball where he likes it to be successful. Make it where he doesn't have to work as hard, easy layups, catch and shoot where he likes it."

Both Melo and Stat had one of their worst seasons in 2011. Anthony averaged just under 23 points a game, while Stoudemire did not break 18 points a game.

Many people blame Anthony's style of play for the struggles of players like Stoudemire. Prior to Anthony's arrival, Stoudemire was the main man in New York. Anthony brought his isolation plays over from the Denver Nuggets and all of a sudden, Stat took a seat in the back.

With Kidd coming off the bench and getting a few minutes with the stars, he can further develop chemistry with the players and guide Raymond Felton so that he too can understand where these players like the ball and learn to facilitate their scoring.

All in all, Kidd wants to make scoring easy and wants Anthony, Stoudemire and the Knicks to be as efficient as possible.

With the combination of skill and talent the New York Knicks have entering the 2012-2013 season, they will look to make a push at the top of the Eastern Conference standing.
