Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Russell Wilson Contract Extension Coming With Todd Gurley, TJ Yeldon, Breshad Perriman Draft Targets?

The Seattle Seahawks are working on a contract extension for Russell Wilson this offseason and there is a chance the deal could get done before the season and this comes as the team may target names like Todd Gurley, TJ Yeldon, Breshad Perriman, Jaelen Strong and Melvin Gordon in the NFL draft this year after signing back Marshawn Lynch to a deal.

The Seahawks won the super Bowl two years ago and lost last season and now they have added Jimmy Graham in a deal with the Saints. The team looks just as strong as it did last year and they could be even better after adding Graham. According to Pro Football Talk, Wilson is not worried about his contract situation and this comes after multiple reports saying that a deal was close and later that the two sides had not come together to find an agreement yet.

Wilson is coming into the final year of his contract and he doesn't have a fifth year option like other QBs from his class, as he was a third round pick. Wilson is making $1.5 million this season and he has been in the six figures before that, which has been a bargain for Seattle. The team has been able to keep their roster together due to Wilson's low cap numbers and now they are bracing for the new deal. According to NFL.com, the team may look at guaranteeing all of Wilson's contract or a high percentage of it, as that would make the cap hit lower each year.

Wilson has been very successful in the NFL, taking the Seahawks to the playoffs every year he has been in the league. Wilson could make over $15 million per season and he could be in line with some of the top quarterbacks in the league. The Seahawks gave up their first round pick for Graham, but they could still end up with some quality players in the second and middle rounds, as the draft is considered a deep one for 2015.

Mel Kiper Jr. listed TJ Yeldon, Breshad Perriman, Jaelen Strong and Melvin Gordon as well as Todd Gurley as potential targets for the Seahawks, but that was from before the Graham trade. Gurley likely will be gone for the team when they make their first selection, but the RB position is also deep with Gordon, Tevin Coleman and Ameer Abdullah. The team could look at adding depth behind Lynch, while names like Strong and Permian could be options after the team got rid of Percy Harvin.

The draft is a chance for the team to add depth at certain positions, as they are poised for another playoff run in 2015. Yahoo Sports reported that the team signed Lynch to a three year deal and the Seahawks may want to add another young back after already drafting Robert Turbin and Christine Michael. Lynch rushed for over 1300 yards last season and has been as consistent as anyone over the last four years. Lynch would have been a main target on the market if he was let go and there also could have been teams interested in trading for him if the Seahawks had made him available.
