Manchester City Transfer News: City Completes Signing Of Brazilian Defender Maicon

Manchester City has completed the signing of Brazilian defender Maicon from Inter Milan, for an undisclosed fee.

City manager Roberto Mancini managed the 31-year-old for two seasons between 2006 and 2008 when in charge of Inter.

The Brazilian began his career at Cruziero and had a spell at Monaco, before moving to Inter and making 235 appearances for the Serie A side.

Maicon spent six years at Inter, winning four Serie A titles as well as the Champions League, under Jose Mourinho in 2010, during a successful spell in Italy.

Maicon will join up with his City team-mates after the forthcoming international break. A right-back renowned for his attacking instincts, he scored 20 goals for Inter and has nearly 70 caps for Brazil.

With deals for Maicon and Scott Sinclair already completed, City have also confirmed that they have finalised a deal to take goalkeeper Richard Wright to the Etihad Stadium.

Reports suggest they're also close to a deal for Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia.

According to the Telegraph, City have been in talks with Benfica for several days and manager Roberto Mancini has made signing the Spaniard a priority.

Garcia has picked up one cap for the Spanish national team.
