The story is not much about the New York Giants finishing first. It is about the Cowboys' failures and how they will finish in last place.
Maybe I have too much distrust in the Cowboys' team and putting too much faith on the Robert Griffin III and the Mike Shanahan, but from the looks of it, the Cowboys will be in last place.
The Redskins beat the Giants twice last season and that was with just Santana Moss as their biggest offensive weapon. Now they have RGIII and Pierre Garcon on the attack.
Aside from the Cowboys' history of losing, they have a tough schedule ahead of them. Will Tony Romo and the Cowboys, who have a pretty good offensive team, put it together offensively when they face teams like the Bears, Ravens, Panthers, Giants, Falcons and Eagles from Week 3 to Week 8?
They then wrap up their season against the Eagles, Bengals, Steelers, Saints and Redskins. That is not an easy lineup.
Will Romo stay healthy along with Dez Bryant and Miles Austin?
The Redskins were 5-11 with a mediocre offense in 2011. Two of those wins were against the Giants. The Cowboys lost twice to the Giants. I would say the Redskins could finish 6-10 or 7-9.
The Cowboys on the other hand, have four games they should win, Week 2 against the Seahawks, the Buccaneers, Browns, and at least one against the Redskins. They could probably beat the Panthers if Cam Newton could not carry the team the way he is expected to in 2012.
That has the Cowboys at 5-11.
The Eagles have the toughest schedule, probably in the NFL, so they could end up struggling as well.
That leaves the Giants as the dominant team in the NFC East. They have Eli Manning and a defensive line that will terrorize all quarterbacks during the season, which leaves the Giants as the sole contenders out in the NFC East.
If Tony Romo can find a way to win the big games for the Cowboys and Michael Vick proves he can take the Eagles through that horrendous schedule they have, then they will definitely give the Giants a run in the 2012 season.
As of now, I have the Giants in first, the Redskins surprisingly in second, the Eagles in third and the Cowboys in last place.
