Miami Dolphins Rumors: Ryan Tannehill Contract Extension, Wes Welker, Greg Jennings Free Agent Options With DeVante Parker Draft Target?

The Miami Dolphins may work out a contract extension with quarterback Ryan Tannehill this offseason and heading into the draft the team may target names like DeVante Parker and Todd Gurley and this comes after the Fins met with free agent receivers Wes Welker and Michael Crabtree and after they had interest in Greg Jennings.

The Dolphins are coming into 2015 with high expectations after signing Ndamukong Suh to a contract and now the team is thinking playoffs. According to Pro Football Talk, the Dolphins and Ryan Tannehill have started talking about a contract extension and a deal could get done before the season starts. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that the deal could be around $105 million over seven seasons for the fourth year player.

Tannehill comes in after having his best season in the NFL and that is one reason why the Dolphins will be focusing on offense for the rests of the offseason. The team ditched Mike Wallace in a trade with the Vikings and also got rid of Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson, meaning Tannehill will have some new receivers to work with. Jarvis Landry and Rishard Matthews return and the team added Kenny Stills, but they may want more depth.

The team reportedly has met with DeVante Parker and they also could target Breshad Perriman or Kevin White. CBS Sports reports that a trade up could be an option for the Dolphins, as players like Amari Cooper and White could be options for the team. Todd Gurley has also been mentioned as a target and this comes after the team brought back LaMichael James. According to Pro Football Talk, the team met with Wes Welker and they also have met with Michael Crabtree this offseason and have shown interest in Greg Jennings and Hakeem Nicks.

Perriman could be an option, as he had over 1000 yards with 50 receptions for UCF last season. Perriman has shown a big play ability while in college, making 16 touchdown receptions in 39 games at Central Florida. Jaelen Strong could be an option if the other receivers are off the board, as he comes in after putting up great numbers in two seasons with Arizona State. Strong had 17 touchdowns in 26 games played.

The Dolphins also may want to add some depth at running back and they have met with Todd Gurley and could target Melvin Gordon. The Dolphins feel like they can be a playoff contender with some strong pieces in the draft. Parker has great speed and is coming off of a solid career at Louisville, while White is being looked at as one of the top prospects and he may not make it out of the top 10.
