ESPN reporter Britt McHenry has been suspended by the network after video of her surfaced showing McHenry berating a tow company employee using derogatory language and insults regarding the weight and education of the attendant.
The video was posted to the website LiveLeak.com and was all over social media on Thursday afternoon. McHenry can be seen on the video insulting the attendant, commenting on her apperance, intelligence and her job. One quote had McHenry saying: "I'm in the news sweetheart, I will fu*&$ng sue this place."
According to Richard Deitsch at SI.com, "ESPN says Britt McHenry has been suspended for one week effective immediately."
The attendant comments to McHenry that she is on video, but McHenry continued her conversation and berated the employee with numerous insults and invoking her job as a television reporter. According to Busted Coverage, an employee from the towing company said that McHenry's car was towed after it was left at a restaurant when McHenry and her party went to another location.
According to Deadspin.com, McHenry previously tweeted that her car was towed, but late deleted it. McHenry later released a PR statement saying: "In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things. As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake."
